Alnoble ® is the name of a high corrosion resistant and high strength aluminium foil newly developed by Toyo Aluminium. This foil possesses corrosion resistance equivalent to high-purity aluminium foil and extremely high mechanical strength. It can be effectively used in applications including food packaging materials for foods for which existing aluminium foils could not be used due to limitations in terms of corrosion resistance with regard to the objects to be packaged, electrode materials in lithium ion batteries, and other applications requiring long-term stability.
Examples of markets for aluminium foil requiring high corrosion resistance
| Item |
Application |
| Electrolyte resistance |
Long-term durability is required for aluminium materials used in lead terminals, power collection materials, covering materials used in lithium ion batteries, aluminium electrolytic capacitors and electric double layer capacitors. To meet this requirement, the material needs to have high electrolyte resistance and high strength to fulfill processing workability requirements. |
| Chemical resistance |
The durability of laminate materials made from aluminium foil used for alkali or acid chemicals such as hair dyes is determined by the corrosion resistance of the aluminium foil even if it does not come in direct contact with the packaged contents. |
| Food resistance |
If aluminium foil comes in direct contact with highly corrosive food, aluminium may be dissolved leading to leakages of packaged contents and contamination resulting from dissolved material. To prevent this, high food resistance is required for aluminium foil used in such applications. |
