Toyo Aluminium was founded in 1931, with half its capital investment provided by Sumitomo and half by Aluminium Limited (currently Alcan Aluminium Limited), Canada, a world leader in the aluminium industry. Since our founding, we have made an ongoing contribution to society as top aluminium-foil manufacturer, developing a broad assortment of aluminium-foil products.
Packaging products combining aluminium foil with other materials, such as paper, cellophane and plastic film, are very widely used for packaging of food products and pharmaceuticals due to their outstanding decorative, moisture-proofing and light-shielding properties. And high-purity aluminium foils are important materials in the production of capacitors used in audio-visual and office electronic equipment. In 1957, Toyo Aluminium began to produce aluminium pastes (aluminium pigments for paints) for the first time in Japan. We are now the world leader in that field.

Toyo Aluminium is Japan's top supplier of aluminium-foil products for packaging and consumer goods. We have developed retort food packaging and also various high-performance foils for capacitors and other electronic components.

Toyo Aluminium, with a Japanese domestic market share of 70 percent, is Japan's top supplier of aluminium paste products, which are used in metallic paints in printing inks, in foaming agents for light weight concrete panels, and in sensitizers for slurry-type explosives. Toyo Aluminium is too developing water-based pastes that help protect the environment.

Toyo Aluminium produces aluminium powders, with purity levels ranging from 99.3 percent to 99.99 percent. These powders are used in a broad range of applications, including powder metallurgy parts, refractory bricks, catalysts and solid fuels.
