Stenshel® (stainless steel flake-containing paint)

Overview

Stenshel® paint (stainless steel flake-containing paint) is a rust-resistant paint that is excellent against corrosion.
By applying a resin film containing fine stainless steel flakes having strong rust-preventing capabilities against corrosive components, such as acids, alkalis, and salts, it blocks scratching and corrosive factors, prevents the generation of rust, and protects materials over the long term.

*Stenshel® is a new technology paint that has acquired a New Technology Information System (NETIS) Registration Number from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

A laminated coating film containing stainless steel flakes that are strongly compatible with and adhered to a resin exhibits weather resistance, corrosion resistance, and chemical resistance superior to that of conventional thick anti-corrosion paints.

    • 1) While the paint resin is hardening, the fine stainless steel flakes overlap in a layer on a planar surface.
    • 2) A laminated film of continuous stainless steel flakes forms inside the resin. Furthermore, when the resin hardens, a strong, tough coating that is resistant to external force and corrosive substances, such as water, is created.
  • Abalone shells, which are said to be strong and tough to break, include iridescent layers called mother of pearl, and thus have multi-layered structures formed by many overlapped plates of thin pearl aragonite crystal. In the same way, Stainless Shell paint forms a strong, tough coating film because a multi-layered structure of stainless steel flakes forms in the resin.

Features

Strong points

  • 1. Corrosion protection and weather resistance are superior.
  • 2. Chemical resistance is superior.
  • 3. Friction resistance is superior so that it can be used on parts where strong forces are generated.

<Other strengths>

  • Can be applied by spraying, brushing, or rolling, etc.
  • Can be selected according to applying location etc. because the basic color lineup is comprised of 12 colors.
  • Able to reduce painting processes with the goal of saving construction labor.
  • It is highly durable and thus extends periods between re-painting.

Applications

3 painting specifications

Effective for locations where long-term anti-corrosion and weather resistance are required, such as bridges, railway girders, factories, hydraulic steel piping, steel framing, cubicles, concrete forms, and bolts.
