For Better Use Of ALPASTE

Transport and Handling

  • Please avoid excess impact/vibration, turning-over, rolling-over and falling-down.
  • The organic solvent, which is added a little in excess for maintaining the quality (of dispersibility), may sometimes bleed out onto the surface and change the state of products in the container (by means of separation). It gives no problem to the quality of ALPASTE. Use it after uniformly agitating.
  • There is the possibility that the container is broken, the organic solvent is volatilized and/or the rain drops/impurities are inter-mixed, which results in the decrease of dispersibility or other problems.


  • Please store ALPASTE indoors keeping off the direct sunshine or heat source.
    In the case of
    lower temperature : Fatty acid is crystallized.
    higher temperature : It is possible to decrease the dispersibility or cause the swelling of can by expansion of the solvent.
  • Please Store it closing the container tightly if it is once opened.
    Otherwise, it is resulted in poor dispersibility by means of evaporation of organic solvent or of moisture absorption, or in contamination with impurities.

Separation of solvent

  • Separation means the situation where the organic solvent, which is added a little in excess to maintain the quality(of dispersibility), bleeds onto the surface.
  • It may be caused when the impact or vibration is given to the container in excess.
  • It is known to happen when the container is transported after being long left in high temperature condition or in the case of being subdivided.
  • Such phenomenon does not mean the deterioration of ALPASTE. It can be used after agitating well till it is mixed up uniformly. It is qualitatively no problem.

Crystallization of Fatty Acid

  • Fatty acid educing is the situation where the fatty acid, which is being added a little in excess to maintain the quality(for leafing stability in the paint),educes on the surface in white in the case of leafing type ALPASTE.
    When ALPASTE is stored at lower temperature, the contained solvent decreases in dissolving power and insoluble fatty acid educes onto the surface.
  • Consequently, it happens when the temperature becomes lower in winter time, as well known.
  • It is not a matter of problem. Use it after agitating enough as it is or re-dissolving it by warming(to about 30°C).
  • However, in the winter time, the solvent itself may decrease in dissolving power in the paint system. Care should be taken also to this case.
  • We are able to prepare ALPASTE formulated with high fatty acid dissolvable solvent upon request. Such grade can moderate the educing of fatty acid.
  • But in such a case, it is necessary to take care of the suitability of paint itself.

Poor Dispersion

  • The dispersion deficiency may be caused by the factors mentioned in the "Storage & Transport" that is because the organic solvent is evaporated or the rain-drops or impurities are inter-mixed when the can is broken or the can lid is not tightly closed.
  • It is recommendable to use up ALPASTE as fast as possible, especially when a part of contents is taken out and the open space of can inside becomes bigger or when the treated grade in which easy evaporative solvent is included.
